It’s a hair elastic! It’s designed to hold your ponytail in place. So……
Don’t chew them. Yuk!
Don’t give them to little ones under 3 - they could choke.
Don’t use them as catapults. It makes adults cross! It could break the fabulous hair elastic or even a prized vase from the Ming period (very, very expensive). It could even hurt someone.

Your lovely hair elastics have arrived…… woop woop…….As you rush off to try a long ponytail and abandon the card they came on, take a breath. Do you throw the card away? Well let’s be honest, you could! But you could also do something else with it instead. Try these few ideas for inspiration…..
Use the card as a bookmark. Use your pens or pencils to decorate it - if you want - and slip it between the pages of your favourite book.
Use the card to store ribbon, wool or thread. We always keep ribbon, wool and twine that comes on presents, new clothes and all manor of things. To store the newly acquired ribbon; simply wind it around the card. You might need a little bit of tape to hold it in place or ask an adult to cut a slit into the side (about 1cm deep) and the end of your ribbon can sit happily in there.
How about another use for your elastic???
You could……. Tie it onto your pencil case zip, or a coat zip - it makes the zip easier to use and more colourful!……..use it as a plant tie in the garden - your sunflowers would look amazing tied to their canes in these bright colours……. Tie it into a loop around the label in the neck of your school coat. The elastic loop will make it sooooo much easier to hang your coat on your peg.
Don’t forget, if you get fed up of your lovely bright elastics (as we all change our minds from time to time!) or if you cut your hair and no longer need them - donate them to a family member or friend. Don’t forget to ask an adult if it’s ok.
