Up cycling

The day comes when your lovely hair bandeau arrives. It’s so exciting! You rip open the recycled packaging, in double quick time undo the tie twist and abandon the card, tie and packaging as you race to the mirror to try on you fabulous new purchase. Hang on a minute. What are you going to do with the tie, card and packaging?? THROW IT AWAY I hear you yell! Well yes you absolutely could….. but there is another way…..you could up-cycle it all and use everything for something new!
Here are a few of our ideas:
The twist tie - they are actually very pretty in a pink check design. Use it again to tie something new such as a sunflower to a stake, tie papers together, keep those pesky wires neatly together, or even to close a packet of sweets to keep them fresh.
The label works brilliantly to keep ribbon tied around it.
The packaging can also be reused or recycled.
Upcycling your Hairband
So what could you do with your Hairband? Up cycling requires a little bit of imagination sometimes - here are a few of our ideas…..
Use it to create a sarong or dress for you favourite doll.
Use it as a bracelet - just wrap it round your wrist twice. Make sure it’s not too tight though!
Hang it up by its loop and use it to keep scarves, your school tie or even other hair bands neat and tidy.
Don’t forget, if you get fed up of your Hairband (as we all change our minds from time to time!) donate it to a family member, a friend or to your local charity shop. Don’t forget to ask an adult if it’s ok!
